The companion painting to W.A. Guy’s “Fresh From Chicago – 1915” is this one – “Indecent Proposal at the Rex – 1918.” The oil shows the fashionable young woman who had just arrived in the city in 1915 after a few years have added some pounds and her clothes have become a bit less fashionable. The woman, who Guy hypothesized came west in search of romance three years previously, now received an untoward proposition from a cowboy at the Rex.
